How can I help you?

Are you in need of Couples Counselling or Sex Therapy?

Couples often have a hard time communicating. You may find you and your partner completely misunderstand one another CONSTANTLY.

One or both of the partners might feel that their needs are not being met emotionally, mentally or physically. If this is how you feel, I can introduce the tools you need to effectively communicate and be heard for once. The couples counselling I offer brings a new way of connecting with your partner.

Many relationships become stagnant and find that their sex life-habits bring contention and hurt. Whether you have sex twice a year or twice a week – sexual hurts run deep and can come a long way. Sex therapy is a key to understanding one’s own fears regarding sex and intimacy. It also can highlight why we form certain unhelpful habits in our sex lives. How can we connect once again to the joyful sexual experiences we had with our spouse before? Let’s talk and find out together!

Have you experienced sexual abuse or trauma in your past?

You may feel as though you are carrying around a deep and dark secret. It could be the case if you were sexually abused in some way as a child.  The statistics say that 1 in every 9 girls and 1 in every 53 boys experience sexual abuse before the age of 18.  This may be under-estimated as many keep it as a deeply buried secret. Only 310 out of 1000 cases of sexual assault are ever reported.

The results in adults that have experienced childhood sexual abuse are vast: addictive habits (drugs; alcohol; sex; porn; food), PTSD, depressive episodes, low self-esteem; suicidal thoughts, lack of ambition.

We can also have a normal, happy life even when we are walking around with this secret, but in some way, the hurt will hold us back and pull us down.

Trauma in any form can affect our nervous system. Our minds take us back to the moment of trauma and we have the same physical symptoms – sweaty palms, racing heart, withdrawal.

When we take out this trauma ‘root’ then the symptoms or ‘fruit’ can be dealt with so much faster.

Betrayal Trauma - alone and married

The pain caused by the betrayal or infidelity of a spouse in immeasurable. Transcending even the pain of loss of a loved one.

Discovering your spouse’s emotional or sexual affair with a third party or porn addiction causes deep wounds. Seeing the spouse daily after this discovery is like turning the knife again and again.

The physical symptoms you may experience equals that of PTSD. Living in a constant state of shock switches off your emotional ‘gates’ – causing you to become a robot constantly switched to survival mode.
